When I looked in the mirror, I no longer recognised myself. I always silently scrutinised my face every day, unable to vocalise what I felt, as I didn’t want to bring further attention to the acne and stubbly hairs on my face. I lived in a permanent state of hypervigilance, constantly on edge and painfully aware of every single hair, breakout and imperfection on my face. When I was travelling daily on public transport into London for work, my hands habitually drifted to my face, unconsciously feeling the stubble. I remember the sharp jolt of panic on public transport whenever I realised I was touching my face, and then I would quickly drop my hand, certain that every stranger’s gaze was fixed on the stubble that I was trying to hide. I felt exposed and vulnerable, like everyone was looking at my stubble and the breakouts and not at me.

Desperation led me to countless salons and clinics, but those visits only added to the trauma. The treatments felt like punishment; the pain, the angry swelling and the redness left me sore and unable to venture out and face the world, not to mention the logistics of making appointments around social events and accounting for the downtime after every treatment.

I went to many salons and clinics, but nothing seemed to work. I felt there was no duty of care in the industry, and everyone wanted to charge high prices for the treatments and sell me lots of products. Until I went to a clinic in Maidenhead in 2004 and had laser treatment and thought it was the best thing ever! After years and years of hair removal treatments, the laser obliterated my facial hair. No more being self-conscious about the stubble on my face, and I knew then that laser was the way forward in the future.

However, laser clinics were few and far between and extremely expensive, as they were so effective. After all the pain and anguish that I had endured, I didn’t want others to go through what I experienced, and I decided then that I wanted to make laser available to everyone so that they too could experience the relief of not having to worry about hair growth, the freedom of being socially active and not having to go through years upon years of treatment, and all of this at affordable pricing.

When I returned to education, most of my colleagues were doing generic beauty courses; however, I decided to delve deeper and continue studying, further increasing my knowledge of the anatomy and physiology as well as the technical scientific knowledge of all the equipment required to conduct the treatments. The education continued; I then went on to become a fully qualified and accredited trainer in laser treatments.

I started off studying part-time and working full-time to ensure I wanted this career path, as I had already done a degree. As soon as I started studying, I loved it and knew it was right for me and that I would always ace all my exams. I went on to study full time and worked three jobs in order to complete my second degree. Once qualified, I worked in industry. I was headhunted for clinics, but I decided to start my own business, as I had strong ethical and moralistic ways of conducting business.

I was one of the first people to do laser in the local area of West London and quickly became known as the Laser Lady, and I still am. Image Perfect Clinic has been running for more than 15 years purely on word of mouth. I made a conscious choice to lead with integrity. I’ve built my reputation on honesty and ethical conduct.

I set out to build more than just a company; I wanted to build a legacy of trust and results, born out of my own experiences. My journey has been defined by a steadfast commitment to moral clarity and discretion, and the heartbeat of the clinic is rooted in what is genuinely best for the client.

The business has been my solace in so many ways, professionally and personally.

My work is a joy: seeing the positive difference the treatments make in the clients’ lives, watching the clients grow with confidence and making them feel comfortable in their own skin. With the years of expertise that I have, this has enabled me to develop theories and concepts about the operations of the human body, including all the facets and dimensions of the mind, body, emotions and soul. This dedication has resulted in the creation of treatments that activate the body’s own systems, as I believe the human body is the most amazing healing machine on earth. That is why I named the business Image Perfect Clinic; we are all striving for perfection, but perfection is already within us.
